Senior Trip
Twenty-six seniors and four chaperons enjoyed the cool breezes and low humidity of San Diego. We visited the world famous San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and the aircraft carrier the USS Midway. Kayaking in the ocean while observing sea lions and tiger sharks ( or was it leopard sharks) was the highlight of the trip for many. We worshipped with believers at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Sunday and visited the museum hosted by the Institute for Creation Research. Mrs. Cook was the class advisor and did a great job in organizing this trip.
Campbell Soup Year End Update
Another year has come and gone and many bowls of soup, Pepperidge Farm goldfish and jars of Prego spaghetti sauce have been consumed. Our school was able to collect 21,247 UPC’s this year. Thank you for your support.
- Congratulations to Mr. Dave Netz’ 9th grade class, the winners of our label contest. The 9th graders enjoyed a pizza party to celebrate their victory.
- A special thanks to Mrs. Lila Fraser, our Campbell Soup Label Coordinator. We appreciate all her hard work in counting, bundling and shipping the labels.
Elementary Sports Day
On Friday, May 4, 2007 students in the elementary grades held their annual Sports Day. We had a beautiful sunny day! Students participated in many activities throughout the day. Students ate hot dogs, chips, cookies, and enjoyed popsicles in the afternoon. The highlight of the day for the lower elementary students was the “moon bounce.”
A special thanks to Mrs. Louise Lucas for putting together the great lunch. Also, thanks to all the moms who helped.
A “great job” goes out to Miss Horner and Mrs. Eaton for organizing all the activities.
Yowsa Powsa
Yowsa Powsa was held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 for the seventh and eighth graders. The students enjoyed a day full of activities: break the water balloon, marble grab, a scavenger hunt, toilet paper mummy wrap, guess the mm’s. (There were 1,538 mm’s correctly guessed by 7th grader, Felicia Hunter.) The highlight of the day was the “dunk tank.” It took a while but Mr. Netz finally went in thanks to his nephew Paul Hughes, Asa Franklin, and Dave Costa. An all you can eat pizza lunch was enjoyed by all. The winning class for the day was the 8th grade.
Principal Netz Honored for 20 Years at GCCS
On Monday evening May 14, 2007 at the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Dinner , at Masso’s Red Pine Inn, we honored Mr. Netz for his twenty years of faithful service at GCCS. Mr. Netz was presented with a plaque, a weekend in Lancaster, a Thank You scrapbook, monetary gifts, and themed gift baskets from each class. We appreciate Mr. Netz and his dedication to the faculty, staff, and students of GCCS.
The Music Man
GCCS presented The Music Man on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at a matinee for the entire school. The play was fantastic and enjoyed by all.
Thanks to all the cast and crew for a job well done. Thanks to Mrs. Iles for once again doing a great directing job.
We especially want to thank Mr. Paul Pickering for arranging bus transportation so all our students could go to the matinee.
School Work Day
Although this school year has just ended, we are already looking forward to September. So that we can begin to prepare there will be a “project party” on Saturday, July 14th, from 8:00 a.m.- 12 noon. Plan to come and help us to get the campus spruced up. Brunch will be provided.
Summer Post Card Contest
Send us a postcard from your summer vacation and we will display it in our lobby. A prize will be given for the farthest distance, first received, and “most interesting.” The winners will be listed in our September newsletter. The contest dates are June 8 to September 4.
